Doctrine

This is a summary of how we read, interpret and teach the Bible on certain points found by others and ourselves to be key.  We try to make most of our teachings available for free, so that people can evaluate them to inform  their own choices about how and when to begin or continue engaging with us.

Doctrinal Unity..

..allows us to fellowship and agree with one-another in faith toward commonly accepted and agreed upon goals or hopes that are taught from the Bible.

Amos 3:3 King James Version (KJV) Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

 Beliefs

Beyond basic Christian and trinitarian Pentecostal doctrine, we will demonstrate some elementary Bible teaching here, so you can see how it may be different than your Denomination (or Non-Denomination), yet Biblical.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[1] and of faith in Godinstruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

The Foundation

  1. repentance from acts that lead to death
  2. faith in God
  3. instruction about baptisms
  4. the laying on of hands
  5. the resurrection of the dead & eternal judgment

 1. repentance from acts that lead to death

The Bible encourages us towards repentance from acts that lead to death, in our spirit, soul, and body beyond health and wellness toward wholeness.

  1. We do not accuse others of sins based upon general knowledge.
  2. If someone asks us for revelation in a matter and the Lord releases us to share the words He gives us, we like the corrective feedback to be as specific as possible while encouraging them towards a redemptive, attainable action that we verify that they understand.

2. faith in God

Having faith in God means trusting in His good accomplishments, intentions, desires, and plan for us.  We do not:

  1. Blame God – for evil, as if He is authoring, sending, or perpetuating maladies upon His children.  All that is the Devil’s job – and Man’s doing for allowing the Devil a foothold in our creation (collectively) and lives (individually).  In Jesus name, we command the works of the enemy (maladies of spirit, soul, or body) and any demons behind them to “GO”.
  2. Control God – by telling, asking, begging, trading, or bargaining with Him hoping to manipulate Him into re-doing His Finished Work at Calvary, whereby He already saved our spirits from Hell, delivered our souls from demons, and healed our bodies.  Rather, we accept and receive these blessings (along with His love for us demonstrated in them) by faith.

3. instruction about baptisms

Water Immersion

Faith believes and receives His grace (what Jesus did on our behalf) as final and sufficient:  That He:

  1. suffered – bore our punishment (maladies of spirit, soul, and body) in His body on the cross, and by His wounds we ARE healed.
  2. died – paying our death penalty
  3. was buried in our place
  4. and raised again – to new life

We identify with His suffering, death (Rom 6:1-13), burial, and resurrection – in Water Baptism:

  1. suffered – As we fall backwards into the water symbolizing death, we are surrendering our all and our self-life for cause of Christ and His Gospel.
  2. died – Dying with Christ puts our sins to death with Him as we become one with His flesh and spirit – and so washes our sins away.
  3. was buried – we reckon our old self dead  – freed from it’s worldly connections/entanglements – except in terms of making restitution, and following through on responsibilities.
  4. and raised again – Being born again to new life in Him and through Him – in His likeness.

Immersion in His Holy Spirit

Imagine that baptismal pool of water that you got baptized in being God’s Holy Spirit.  You go under by agreeing with someone else who can share that experience lay their hands on you and believe for you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

4. the laying on of hands

Below I shortened Mike Connell’s outline from his foundation series on  laying on of hands.

Laying on of Hands:

The person receiving the spiritual impartation exercises faith that God will impart to them through the activity of another person e.g. Mk. 5:27-30 woman; Lk 6:19 Multitude.

1. Purpose of Laying on of Hands

i) Impartation of Blessing
Gen. 48:13-15 “Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it upon Ephraim’s head … and he blessed Joseph …”
Blessings were Prophetic words spoken over a person that became imparted through the laying on of hands.
The blessing was not able to be revoked once it had been imparted. Gen.27:34.
Blessings with laying on of hands acknowledged someone was chosen by God for a purpose.
Other Examples:
Num. 27:18-20 Moses lays hands on Joshua and imparts authority and wisdom.
Mk. 10:13-16 Jesus lays hands on children and blesses them – spoke into them.

ii) Impartation of Baptism of Holy Spirit
Acts 8:17 “Then they laid hands upon them and they received the Holy Spirit”.
Acts 9:17-18 “Ananaias lays hands upon Paul and speaks over him prophetically. Paul receives baptism in Holy Spirit and is healed”.
N.B. Ananaias held no office – he was a disciple of Christ who listened to the Holy Spirit.

Mk. 16:17 “These signs will follow those who believe...they shall lay hands on sick …”
- Laying on of hands is not just a ceremony – it produces a real spiritual effect.
- There is a real spiritual contact between two people and transference takes place.
- This is a ministry for all believers – we carry the life and power of God.
- God works through people making vital faith connection with other people.

iii) Impartation of Spiritual Gifts
· 1 Tim. 4:14 “Do not neglect the gift of God which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the eldership.
· 2 Tim. 1:6 “Stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
- Timothy had some spiritual gift – supernatural operation of the Holy Spirit.
- That gift was given to Timothy by impartation.
- Timothy was known by Paul and the eldership and in relationship with them.
- Through prophecy the will of God was revealed – by laying on of hands it became effective.
- There was a real impartation and a subsequent spiritual conflict over this gift.
- Paul also urged Timothy to stir up the gift and warfare using the prophetic word 1 Tim.1:11-18.

iv) Deliverance and Healing

(a) Deliverance
· Lk. 13:11-13 “Woman you are loosed from your infirmity, and He laid His hands on her…”
· Jesus spoke a word of command and it became effective as He laid hands upon her. The tormenting spirit of infirmity departed from the woman and she was healed.

(b) Healing the Sick
· Mk. 16:15-18

iii) Impartation of power
- The person may feel a flow of power through them – warmth, electric.
- The person may feel nothing at all.

iv) Faith is necessary (Mt.9:29 “according to your faith be it done unto you”)

v) Jam. 5:14-15 “If any among you be sick …”
- God expects believers to be connected with a local church and leaders.
- God expects believers who are sick to seek healing from Him first, then call elders.
- OK to receive help from doctors but seek the Lord first – I believe God!
- Oil is symbolic only of the person and power of the Holy Spirit – Faith contact point.

v) Commissioning Believers

(a) Apostolic Commissioning
Act 13:1-4 “Having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them they sent them”
- Holy Spirit had already spoken personally into hearts of Saul and Barnabus.
- Holy Spirit spoke prophetically and publicly confirmed their call and directed their going.
- Laying of hands was done to confirm, commission, and confer authority.
- God had already gone ahead and prepared the way for them. (Act 14:16-17).

(b) Setting in of Leaders
- Acts 6:2-7 “…and when they had prayed they laid hands upon them”
- They publicly acknowledged the choice of these men and committed them to the task.
- They imparted authority and grace for the task.

Laying Hands Hastily

  1. We do not promote the immature prematurely,  flatter, or prophesy grandiosity – releasing a word before it’s due season.
  2. We make sure a person understands why we are asking to hold their pinky and ring finger, or the top of their shoulder – and that they want us to – before we motion towards them them.
  3. If a prayee reports physical improvement, we may remind them to gently check the limitations of their range of motion to see if it gradually expands.  We do not ask prayees to do anything that pains them, or participate with them in, or initiate any religious tradition or activity that causes pain or harm.

5. the resurrection of the dead & eternal judgment

In the resurrection of the righteous and wicked dead, all will be judged according to their response to the revelation of Christ that they had the opportunity to receive – the wicked to eternal punishment in Hell, and the righteous to unhindered fellowship and eternal health and life with God, self, and others in a restored Eden.
